What’s included in the results for this version of SmartChat?

The current version will include results from Documents, Discussions/Questions and Blogs. It does NOT show results from Events, Ideas, Videos, Status Updates.

Installing the SmartChat Tile

Note: Below is Jive's documentation for uploading Add-ons, which includes a tile. After the SmartChat add-on has been provided to you, you can follow these instructions below.

You can build your own add-ons to leverage systems in Jive. Once you build the add-on, upload it to Jive using the Add-ons page.

When you first upload an add-on to your community, we recommend that you first restrict its visibility to yourself and test out your tiles by creating a secret group for them. This strategy reduces the impact on your community and gives you a chance to preview your add-on without setting up an entirely separate test environment.

To upload an add-on:

  1. Click your avatar in the top right, and select Add-ons.

  2. From the Add-ons tab, select All Add-ons > Upload Package.

  3. Click Browse to find the .ZIP package.

Adding the SmartChat for Jive Tile to a place

  1. On a tile-based Place (or the community global home page), click the Manage button in the place banner. Select Edit Page if you are on a Page or Settings if you’d like to add the SmartChat for Jive Tile to an activity page.

  2. Your Place or Activity page is now in Edit mode.

  3. Find a vacant tile zone and click Add a Tile.

  4. In the Categories column on the left, select External Add-ons.

  5. In the tile column on the right, select SmartChat for Jive with the Social Edge logo.

General Setup

In this section, configure your Title welcome message and the Height (in pixels) of the tile.

 


Theme

Configure the look and feel of the tile, including the Header, Response and user Prompt sections.

Preview

As you adjust the theme, the preview at the top of the section will update with your changes so you can preview the theme before publishing. (Screenshots of each tab shown below).

Tip: We recommend checking accessibility of your tile colors with a Contrast Checker such as this one: WebAIM: Contrast Checker

For the Header tab, you can adjust the font color (using hex values or names of colors) for both the Title Text and the Header Background.

 


For the Response tab, you can adjust the font color (using hex values or names of colors) for both the Response Text and the Response Background.

 

 

 


For the Prompt area where you enter your query, you can adjust the colors for the Prompt Text, Background, Button, Hover state of the Button, and the Width.

Fonts can be configured for both the Header and Response. Choose between Basic Font, Google Font and Custom Font.

Will users see AI-generated responses from content they shouldn’t see?

No. Responses are only generated from content that the user is entitled to view

Will the AI-generated responses be accurate?

The responses are generated solely on your company’s content (Content, Groups, People) and will not be sourced from public content on the Internet

How does SmartChat ensure the security of our content?

SmartChat only accesses and provides responses from content that users are authorized to view. It does not pull information from outside sources or send any data externally, ensuring your company's data remains secure.

How is SmartChat different from the default Jive search?

SmartChat uses advanced AI capabilities to create an experience similar to AI tools like ChatGPT, where users can ask natural language questions and receive contextually relevant answers. This is more intuitive and accurate compared to traditional keyword-based search.

While Jive CoPilot leverages GenAI for summarization and Q&A, SmartChat focuses on delivering instant, contextually relevant answers through conversational AI. SmartChat provides easy interaction, access to original content, customizable management options, and detailed usage analytics. Unlike Jive CoPilot, which is available in your site header, SmartChat integrates directly into your Jive Community pages, offering a seamless and fully integrated user experience.

What AI technology does SmartChat use? 

SmartChat leverages Open AI technology, ensuring reliable and powerful conversational AI capabilities. This technology enables SmartChat to provide accurate and contextually relevant responses to user queries.

Is there a learning curve for using SmartChat?

SmartChat is designed for easy interaction with intuitive prompts and responses. Most users find it straightforward to use with minimal training required.

Does SmartChat support multiple languages?

Currently, SmartChat primarily supports English. However, support for additional languages can be explored based on your community's needs.
