Configure Stories

Stories are the main components of your Mosaic Tile. Stories are the items you want to highlight on your landing page with images, copy and links. The Mosaic Tile offers a variety of options for displaying your stories and calls to action in your community. Every story can have a unique layout and configuration options. Below is a quick overview of what a story is and the main components involved.

Elements of a Story

  • Categories. Call out specific types of stories with pre-set categories. Categories may include an icon (examples: video, announcement, HR update, Urgent etc.)

  • Likes & Comments.  For Jive content, display social data by showing the  current number of likes & comments

  • Title and Subtitle.  Introduce your story & provide context for your users.

Adding Images

  1. To add images to your Tile, you will first need to upload them in the community. Simply click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the place you are working and select Static resources. Depending on the version of Jive you have, you may see “Manage” instead of the gear icon. Click on that. Your menu will either say Image files or Static resources.

  2. In the popup, click Upload a File and select the image(s) you want to use in the tile.

    • When using a custom icon, we suggest uploading a 40x40px icon. If your icon is a bit larger, don't worry; it will be resized.

Best Practices and Tips

Best Practice/Tip

How To…

Static Image URLs

Upload all your images and copy the Jive generated URLs for each uploaded image to a notepad before you begin configuring your slider. You will need to paste these image URLs into the image URL field.

Copy all CSS and HTML, including the code in the Copy/Paste config options to a text editor. Save this file locally or to a cloud storage system.

Mix up your styles of tiles for a varied look.

You can enable/disable likes and comments per story. In addition, you can change the style of the caption (classic, fade or flat) per story.

You can create a series of call to action banners using Mosaic.

As an alternative to the Jive Image Banner tile, use Mosaic and make all the images the same “small” size. Note: For a narrow column tile, you can have 2 stories.

Create a Master Mosaic for your community.

Setup a new Mosaic and complete configure settings to include your brand colors, fonts and style (rounded corners, opacity, gutter etc.), so your team can leverage the Copy/Paste Config feature to apply Mosaic to different places in the community while maintaining consistency.

Header HTML

You can pass on Jive information within a URL by including the string {query}. For example, you can welcome a user to your community or place with their name.

“Hello, {name} Welcome to the HR Space.”
