How Mosaic Crops Images

Images are scaled so that they fill the entire story space. The image size does not matter in terms of how the image is cropped. It is based on the orientation, not the image size. 

If the image is more vertical than its bounding area, the top and bottom will be cropped.

If the image is wider than its bounding area the left and right side will be clipped. This ensures that the image always fits the space.

Maximize your Mosaic

Choose an image that compliments the story’s shape. 

If the story is more horizontal, do not choose an image that is more vertical. Mosaic will crop the top and bottom. 

Choosing images based on story shape

Mosaic offers 4 different story shapes:

• Small

• Tall 

• Wide

• Large

Small

Small has a 1x1 shape with a slightly longer horizontal than vertical. Images that are squared or horizontal work best.

Tall has a 1x2 shape with a longer vertical than horizontal. Images that are vertical work best.

Wide

Wide has a 2x1 shape with a longer horizontal than vertical. Images that are twice as long as tall work best.

Large

Large has a 2x2 shape with a slightly longer horizontal than vertical. Images that are squared or horizontal work best. It is essential a larger version of the small.
