Modify Permissions in Expert Centers

How to set the Expert Center so Experts can only Reply to Questions and Members can only Ask

 

Follow-up directions after our conversation about who should be able to reply to an Expert Center Non-Confidential Question.

Because the “ask” is for the the Expert to only reply, this means the original requester will not be able to reply back to the Expert. They will be able to like the reply.

You may want to think about putting on the Forum page or on the Thread page a note that states:

If you have follow up questions, please create a new question for this Expert.

 

Expert Site Roles Clean Up

  1. Go to the Admin Console

  2. Membership  > Roles   

  3. Find the Site Role you need to modify
    (example: Expert Center - Executive Coaching Expert Center)

  4. Click the role name and then you will see “edit”, click “edit”

  5. Remove anyone who is not an expert for that Expert Center Topic Area and/or add the new Expert Member

 

Update the Expert Topic “Member” Role Permissions

  1. Navigate to the Expert group

  2. Click Pencil

  3. Click Manage group, Permissions

  4. Click Members

  5. Scroll. down to “Forum Permissions”

  6. Uncheck “Create Reply”

  7. Click the blue Save button at the top of the management console and wait for message that changes have been made

  8. Click X to close

 

Remove any irrelevant roles from that group 

  1. Navigate to the Expert group

  2. Click Pencil

  3. Click Manage Group, Members

  4. Click Roles Tab

  5. Only use that particular Expert Center Site Role

  6. Click on the Site Role you wish to remove, and click the more drop down to remove that Role
