How to Configure Activity Stream+

About the Activity Stream+

Our Activity Stream+ widget has the option to show and/or hide comments toggle inline with each conversation. This is extremely useful when there are multiple comments on a thread, as it makes it easy to expand or collapse them with one click, streamlining a user's view of the thread. Comments are hidden by default. Simply click the "Show Comments" link to expand the replies and click "Hide Comments" to hide them.

Activity Stream Mode

There are four different options for an activity stream mode, meaning where it will look for content to pull in to display.

Site (All activity) - Will pull in content from the entire site

Site (Contextual user’s joined and optionally subgroups) - Will pull in content from the contextual user’s joined groups within the site as well as those subgroups if the include subgroup activity is checked off.

Group (Activity in a group and optionally subgroups) - Will pull in content from a specific group in addition to subgroups if the checkbox labeled include subgroup activity is checked off.

User (Activity for contextual user) - Will pull in content that the contextual user has created or contributed to.

NOTE: Endless Stream will automatically load more content once you scroll near the end (bottom) of the widget. We recommend that you turn this off and do not use it.

How to Create Filters

You are allowed to have up to six different filters within the activity stream widget. Each one is customizable and easy to use.

  • Filter Name - What name will display for the filter. Ex: Filter 1’s Filter Name is Updates and Filter 2’s Filter Name is My Activity.

  • There can be up to six different filter and names

  • Activity Story Types

For each filter you can choose what content to display. The options for each type of content within a filter include:

Exclude Activity - Will not include any type of that content

Include Accessing User’s Activity - Will include the accessing user’s activity for that specific type of content (ex: Blog Posts with this option will show that accessing user’s own blog posts)

Include Accessing User’s Followed User’s Activity - Will include the activity of those who are followed by the accessing users for that specific content type (whether it be a blog post, calendar event, etc)

Include Accessing User’s and Followed User’s Activity - Will include the activity of the accessing user as well as those who they follow for that specific content type

Include All User’s Activity  - Will include all site user’s activity for that specific content type
